You’ve had an unforgettable day on the water, but now what? Trust us, we’ve thought of everything! After we dock, you’ll have the option to have your catch cleaned and prepared by one of our fantastic local restaurants. Marinaros and Bar Laventos offer a unique catch, cook and clean tasting menu, with your fish prepared three ways.
Catch & Savor
Savor the local flavor of ceviche utilizing the succulent fish you caught mere hours before. Or try the delectable empanizado (breaded and fried), for a satisfying meal to end your day. This unique experience is organized by our team so you can relax, order a drink and chat with the locals. Our restaurant partners do charge a small fee to prepare your meal, but it is incredibly affordable and worth the trip!
Frequently Asked Questions
I’m arriving on a cruise ship. How will I reach the fishing grounds?
Guests arriving on a cruise ship will be provided with complimentary pickup and drop off via Uber. With as much advance notice as possible, you will need to inform us when your ship will arrive at the port so that we can have an Uber ride waiting for you. We will also need to know your departure time so that we can arrange your return trip.
What is the weather like?
There’s no such thing as bad weather when you’re fishing! Jokes aside, it gets quite warm here. Expect warm to hot midday temperatures year-round. We suggest bringing a hat and sunglasses to take the edge off. But don’t worry, there’s a cool, refreshing breeze that cascades in every day. You’ll be having too much fun to notice if things get a little toasty.
Can I catch marlin or other deep sea fish?
Our fishing grounds are exclusively shallow, with waters 20-30 feet at their deepest. Our fishing excursions will give you access to up to 35 different species of fish, ensuring a ton of variety and excitement.
Will we see other wildlife?
The Yucatan is the sea turtle capital of the world. You’ll see plenty of our flippered friends! We also encounter dolphins on almost every trip, though we won’t stay long or they’ll scare off the fish.
Is alcohol allowed?
By request, we can order and pick up local spirits and beer with no added upcharge to you. We will sell it to you “at cost.”
Do you offer taxidermy or mounting services?
No. The fish you’ll catch and keep are meant to be enjoyed as food and treasured memories. While trophy fish can end up on deck, any fish over 22 inches are returned to the water. Mature fish come to the Yucatan to spawn. We respect Mother Nature and let the fish perform their ancient rituals. Any “trophy fish” we catch will be released.
What if there’s bad weather?
Inclement weather is very rare, but we try to give as much pre-notice as possible. All fishing excursions are fully refundable if we have to cancel due to weather. If a customer cancels their reservation for any reason, the deposit is not refundable.
